INVICTA TURNED IT UP AT HFMA

Members of Invicta’s leadership team participated in the HFMA 2023 Conference in Nashville that began this past Sunday. The conference theme this year was “Cost Effective Health: Turn It Up,” a perfect fit considering the post-COVID Medicaid coverage roll-backs and skyrocketing insurer costs. We asked Invicta’s Chief Executive Officer, Donny Zamora, to recap.

The Healthcare Financial Management Association conference started off with an opening address by Ann Jordan, current President & CEO of HFMA, followed by a rock star panel of healthcare executives moderated by Corewell Health CFO Matt Cox, to hit on the hottest topics. Panelists included: Liz Foshage, Ascension; James Lee, Multicare; Susan Nelson, MedStar; and William Rutherford, HCA.

Hot topics throughout the sessions and networking that we found most illuminating and thought-provoking centered around:

  • Installation of HFMA’s 2023-24 National Chair Dennis Dahlen, CFO of Mayo Clinic, and his compelling comments.
  • How successful organizations – vendors as well as providers – focused on people, process, and technology (an Invicta mantra).
  • The massive profitability of payers – such as Aetna, Cigna, and Kaiser – with numbers exceeding $40 Billion in 2022 – in contrast to hospital and health systems struggling across the nation.
  • HFMA’s Community Service conference project, Project Cure, and other significant community engagement efforts in place by organizations that know we must engage through volunteer efforts to support our communities.
  • The ingredients that make the best provider/RCM vendor relationship.
  • Social Determinants of Health and the latest and greatest numbers of uninsured and underinsured in the US, as well as an excellent session by FinThrive’s Brian Urban.
  • Recognition ceremonies for MAP, as well as the prestigious Frederick C. Morgan Achievement Award and Robert M. Shelton Award for Sustained Chapter Excellence – last year, our Chief Client Officer, Jude Crowell, received the Morgan Award.
  • A stellar Expo!

On Tuesday, June 27, Invicta co-hosted a “Music City Turn It Up at the Rooftop” at Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse, along with Finvi, GetixHealth, and RevSpring. It was standing room only, as we were overwhelmed with RSVPs to the hottest party of the conference week. Providers and other guests danced to some good ole’ Nashville live tunes, enjoyed refreshing spirits and bites, and had a roof-raising time. We extend our gratitude to the planning team and volunteers from our four companies for an amazing evening. As you’ll see from the video collage, Team Invicta and our clients all benefited from business conversations as well as relationship-building experiences throughout the conference.

Many thanks to HFMA and especially to the conference planning team on another well-executed event. Invicta is “Turning it Up!“ and we welcome you to contact info@invictahs.com so we can help your organization do the same.
